SACRAMENTO, CA – Recently, Wood Rodgers, led by John Nicolaus (Landscape Architecture) helped to sponsor students on a trip and tour of the Wakamatsu Tea & Silk Colony Farm. The students had read a book by Joan Barsotti, “Okei-San, A Girl’s Journey, Japan to California, 1868-1871.” And since, the Colony’s history has been resurrected by the American River Conservancy at the original farm site, where the young girl is buried today. The students were able to tour the site and walked in the same footsteps as Okei-San.
