State Route 99 Design-Build

Location: Madera, California

Madera, California

Wood Rodgers was selected as part of a team along with Granite Construction to prepare PS&E for Caltrans’ first design-build project. The project scope entails pavement rehabilitation, installation of ITS elements, and bringing guard railing and signage to current standards for 3.6 miles of State Route 99 in Madera County. The purpose of the project is to replace failed sections of PCC pavement with full depth hot mix asphalt (AC), place continuously reinforced concrete pavement on the northbound and southbound truck lanes and overlay sections that are not fully replaced. This $23 million project is being delivered via a design-build process which requires plans and specifications delivered in Caltrans standard formats in an aggressive timeframe. Wood Rodgers has accomplished this by utilizing staff across the company while utilizing a very comprehensive Quality Assurance program to ensure plans are delivered with high quality and to Caltrans’ standards.
